What is a Declaration Page?

The declarations page is the centerpiece of your auto insurance policy. Usually found within the first few pages of an auto insurance policy, the Declarations Page provides information on the insured person – such as name and address – in addition to key policy information, such as the policy period and a breakdown of policy limits.

The Insurance Declarations Page often contains the following policy details:

• Name and address of the insured and the drivers of the covered vehicle(s)

• Specifics on the covered vehicle(s): Year, Make, Model, Body style, and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

• Itemization of Coverages (such as Personal Injury Protection (PIP), Liability, Damage)

• Policy number and effective dates of coverage (From mm/dd/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy)

• Policy premium (sometimes broken down into payment installments)

• Deductible (The amount of your out-of-pocket costs, besides your policy premium)

• Policy Limits (how much the insurance company will pay out)

The Declarations page is generally a snapshot of your insurance policy but it is supplemented by the additional details outlined in other parts of your policy.
